About a month or so ago Shana and I both threw up our hands in frustration at being in front of our computers editing weddings for days, and decided we needed a play day. Sometimes you just need to say to hell with work and do what makes you happy (not that our job doesn’t make us insanely happy or satisfied, cause it so does!) and we literally threw together a concept for a shoot in our backyard within the span of an hour. We rummaged through our closets for makeshift costumes and found a bunch of old tools hanging out in our barn and set to work making our vision come to life. Below is the end result, scroll past for some behind the scenes and explanations on how we did what we did.
This photo is comprised of about twenty photos in total. All you have to do is set your camera on a tripod, make sure it absolutely does not move, that you’ve got fairly constant light, (we battled the sun coming out of the clouds on occasion and would literally sit there for five minutes until it went behind a cloud to start shooting again) and then snap photos of the tools/leaves/whatever props you decide to use in various locations. Keep in mind where you want your subjects, as we often had to re-shoot the props in different locations once we realized they were in front of us once the composite came together. In the end, in photoshop, merge all the photos together in a stack and set to erasing layers.
