Melissa + Jon’s Retro Diner, Graveyard, and Record Store Engagement!

We love love love these two. The moment we met Melissa and Jon, Shana and I both knew we were going to get along famously with them, as they have such a loving quirky energy that we were instantly drawn to. Shana wants to be Jon’s twin, because she loves his style so much. When they told us what they wanted to do for their engagement pictures we were on board immediately. We started the day out at Corner Lunch, this genuine retro diner (when I say genuine, I mean the place has never had a thing replaced… they use gold duct tape to hold the gold booths together!) in Worcester that is AWESOME. After they treated us to a seriously yummy breakfast (SO NICE, RIGHT?) we were off! Originally we had only planned on the diner and the record store, but we had some time to kill after breakfast at the diner because the record store didn’t open until noon, so Melissa and Jon suggested this place called Ralph’s, for it’s awesome graffiti wall. But it just so happens that there was a CAR SHOW happening when we arrived, and we couldn’t believe our luck. So as we were about to circle around in this gigantic graveyard, Melissa had us stop to let us know one of the funniest, coolest things we’ve ever heard. She and two other girls (Brenda and Maggie) run this group called The Gravestone Girls, and as their motto clearly states they’re “putting the rave back in grave”. They take these groups to all these historical graveyards and teach the history of them and HOW FREAKING COOL, RIGHT? So after a few shots there we circled back to the car show. Jon immediately found his dream car, and the very nice owners let us take photos next to it. After oogling all the cars we were on our way to Beech Tree Books & Records, which is absolutely the most adorable record and book shop I’ve ever seen. The owner Ina was waiting for us when we arrived and was so completely hospitable about the whole thing, offering us beverages and straightening the place up for the pictures. We can’t get over the amount of fun we had with Melissa and Jon, and we cannot wait for their backyard wedding in August.

Oh! and I almost forgot to mention the cheek squeezing adorable story about the pin Melissa is wearing in all these. When they weren’t “officially” dating yet, Jon gave Melissa his “The Cure” pin and won her heart over immediately. Cue the sighs.
