Kelly & Shawn’s Alden Castle Wedding

Kelly and Shawn got married on a chilly New England day in November at The Alden Castle. Both of them were the center of ease the entire day, which didn’t surprise us in the least as it’s totally their personalities. Even when Kelly’s bridesmaids got locked out of her house, where the dress was, Kelly shrugged it off like “hey, if I have to I’ll get married in a blue button down shirt, it’s totally fine.” Most brides (myself included) would’ve had a melt down. But her bridesmaids figured it out, got the dress there just in time for Kelly to get in it, and the rest of the day went off without a hitch. We even managed to get outside for their first look, even though we’d missed sunset by a couple of minutes. There was still a ton of color on the trees in the Boston area at this point, everything out our way in Western Mass was already brown and dreary, so we were psyched for that last bit of color for these two.

The ceremony indoors was intimate and cozy with candles. We had a blast with their wedding party formals, both with the guys stoically standing around the piano and the ladies in their roller derby skates. The woman who coordinates weddings at the place nearly had a heart attack when they put those skates on, but it was absolutely worth it for the sweet pictures they got.

The reception was one of the best parties we’d seen all year, everyone (seriously, everyone) was on the dance floor rocking it out. When Taylor Swift’s “shake it off” came on I think I squealed as loudly as Kelly did, which shows how cool she is, because Taylor Swift is the bomb diggity and anyone who says otherwise can suck it. Shawn got down pretty hard to that song as well, which makes him part of the cool club, too.
