The Moss Princess

Yesterday Shana and I got to work with Rita again, this incredible model we found on Model Mayhem last year. You might remember her from our Red Rita series, they’re some of our favorite photos ever. Well, we’ve got even more to add to that favorites list! We had been trying to get together with Rita all through the winter, planning on doing some stylized shots in the snow, but there was only two days of snow to be had this past winter, so we never got the chance to do the shoot we had dreamed up. Last week Rita and I talked about meeting up at and doing some shots near a river, and it’s so bizarre how she’s on the same page with my ideas every time we talk about them. She brought along her 3 year old son, Levi, who is the most adorable little kid ever. Shana absolutely adored him. We hiked around the Puffer’s Pond area, dodging poison ivy, getting sucked knee deep into mud, throwing a glitter party, having a misty shower from the waterfall, and working our levitation magic above the pond. It was a blast, and it’s so incredible working with someone who knows exactly what they’re doing. There was one point where we were shooting by the waterfall, and it was roaring so loudly that there was no way you could hear anyone talk, and yet I found myself thinking how awesome it was that Rita knew exactly where I wanted her and how to pose. This isn’t the last collaboration you’ll see between us, we hope to have many more in the future!
